My Photo File photo came in a plastic sheet protector made to hold 8x10 photos. I would like to get some more for the rest of my photo collection. Can I buy them from you?

What is your guarantee and return policy?

If for any reason you are not completely satisfied with any of our stocked products, you may return them within 21 days of purchase to PhotoFileDirect.com for a full refund. See What are stocked products and what are made-to-order products? Unless the return is due to an error made by PhotoFileDirect.com, we cannot refund shipping charges. Simple instructions on how to return merchandise are included with each order. Made-to-order, i.e. nonstocked, products have a different guarantee since we cannot reasonably expect to resell them if they are returned. See What special terms and conditions apply to orders which contain made-to-order items? for more details.

What are stocked products and what are made-to-order products?

Stocked products presently include any of our products made from 8x10 photographs. These include 8x10 photos, matted 8x10 photos and framed 8x10 photos. Made-to-order products include all the other products.

What special terms and conditions apply to orders which contain made-to-order items?

Some items we sell, such as 11x14 and 16x20 enlargements, are not stocked. They are made to your order. See What are stocked products and what are made-to-order products? Because we cannot reasonably expect to resell these made-to-order items if they are returned, we require nonrefundable payment in advance for orders which contain made-to-order items. We will accept made-to-order items for return only in case of manufacturing defect or shipping damage, and then only in exchange for the identical item. Since made-to-order items have to be manufactured after we receive your order they have a longer delivery time then our stocked items. You should allow three business days between placing an order containing made-to-order items and the order's shipment. Time in transit from our facility to you will generally add from one to seven days. See "How long will it take to receive my order?". To save shipping expenses orders that contain stock and made-to-order items are held until the made-to-order items are ready. If you are ordering stock and made-to-order items and desire your stock items as soon as possible we suggest you place two orders, one for the stock items and one for the made-to-order items.

How long will it take to receive my order? How will it be shipped?

Orders for stock items received before noon on any business day are almost always shipped the same day, 99% are shipped within two business days. Orders for made-to-order items are generally shipped within three business days. See What are stocked products and what are made-to-order products? Orders are shipped via USPS (United States Postal Service). First Class or Priority Mail is used unless Express Mail service is requested. First Class is generally used for packages weighing less then 13 ounces. Priority Mail is generally used for packages weighing more than 13 ounces. A 13 ounce package can contain up to 10 8x10 photos or one matted photo. Domestic First Class and Priority Mail generally take two to four days for delivery, though up to ten days is not uncommon. Domestic Express Mail delivery is generally overnight, though Domestic Express Mail delivery to less well served areas may take two days. Express Mail to Canada generally takes two or three days. Note: Express Mail packages require that someone be available to sign for the package when it arrives, for this reason in some cases you may find it more convenient to have your photos sent to your place of work rather then your home. For a USPS shipping time estimate for your particular location go to http://postcalc.usps.gov/Default.aspx. On the form that appears select a Shape of “Package” and use a weight of 13 ounces. (Selecting 13 ounces will give estimates for both First Class and Priority Mail.) Enter our ZIP code, 10549, and your own ZIP code. Estimate a shipping date based on the information in the first paragraph of this section and use a shipping time of 4:00 PM. Alternatively, you can ask your local Post Office what the expected delivery time is for a package sent from Mount Kisco, NY 10549 to your location. A word of caution, particularly for First Class and Priority mail, these are only estimates, actual shipping time may be different.

Are these licensed products? Why should I care?

Every product PhotoFileDirect.com sells is fully licensed and approved by all the appropriate entities. These include leagues, players associations, individual players and various other licensing bodies. You can be sure that all of our products meet or exceed the strictest quality standards set forth by those licensing bodies. You will undoubtedly see unlicensed photos for sale on the web and elsewhere. Besides being illegal, unlicensed and counterfeit, these products are generally of inferior quality. How can you tell if a photo is licensed? If the seller does not say it is licensed, it probably isn't. And please go to FAQ on hologram stickers for further information on how to if a product is officially licensed.

Why are hologram stickers on the front or back of many of your products but not all?

Each licensing body has different requirements. Most, but not all, licensors require official licensor supplied holograms on the front or back of our photos and products. Even products without holograms usually have the licensor logo, along with the Photo File logo, on them.

What if I don't see the player or product I want? Can I order it anyway?

Unfortunately the answer is no. On a retail basis you can buy only those products shown on our retail web site, http://www.photofiledirect.com. Photo File has selected its 5,000 or so of most popular products to offer for sale on http://www.photofiledirect.com. We do our best to pick the 5,000 that will appeal to the greatest number of customers. As you will understand, even with this large number of products we cannot possibly stock all the players and events in sports, let alone of entertainment and historical events. For the products we do stock, we make a commitment to keep them, or the components to quickly build them, on hand at all times. Because selling over the web in this fashion is reasonably efficient we can keep the price we charge, even for very small orders, at a reasonable level. There are many other players and photos that Photo File makes available on a wholesale basis. Perhaps you have seen one of these photos in person or on our wholesale web site, http://www.photofiledirect.com. Unfortunately, it is not economically feasible for us to sell all of these photos on a retail basis. We can offer this larger selection to our wholesale customers because they must meet substantial minimum order requirements and because we do business with them on an ongoing basis. Even if PhotoFileDirect does not carry the photo you want you may still be able to get it. Particular Photo File dealers may chose to purchase a different assortment of photos then PhotoFileDirect. So, if you have not already tried your local sports memorabilia source for the photo you want, you may want to do so. Finally, even though we don't sell it now, perhaps the product you are looking for is one we can and should be selling. We would appreciate hearing from you. Please e-mail our photo editor at photoeditor@photofiledirect.com with your suggestions about the products we should be carrying. We change our retail line up almost every day and we are constantly adding new players and products. We will take your suggestions into account when we do. And please remember to check http://www.photofiledirect.com frequently to see what is new, your requested product may be there.

I have seen the Photo File photo/product I want elsewhere, why can’t I buy it from http://www.photofiledirect.com?

There are several possible reasons for this. At any time we stock approximately 5,000 photos/products for retail sale. We are constantly adding and removing photos/products from stock to keep up with changing popular demand. There is a chance your selection was once a retail stock item but no longer “makes the cut”. We may no longer be licensed to sell this person or image. For example, when a player is active we generally get the rights to sell his photos through our master agreement with his respective player’s association. Once a player retires we must negotiate those rights directly with the player or his agent. As you can understand these negotiations can take considerable effort, so we generally only attempt it with players who we feel will sell well enough to economically justify the effort. Even when we try to reach terms we are not always successful. Sometimes we cannot come to mutually acceptable contract terms, sometimes the player wants to try and keep complete control of his photos. Photo File has access to literally millions of images from its own archives and from the others sources we deal with. We make these images available on a wholesale basis. Unfortunately, it is not economically feasible for us to offer all these photos on a retail basis. It is economically feasible to offer this larger selection to our wholesale customers because they must meet substantial minimum order requirements. In some cases we are legally bound not to sell a particular image to anyone except the original wholesale customer. We may be printing from a wholesale customer owned negative or we may have granted the wholesale customer exclusive rights to an image. Finally, even though we don't sell it now, perhaps the product you are looking for is one we can and should be selling. We would appreciate hearing from you. Please e-mail our photo editor at photoeditor@photofiledirect.com with your suggestions about the products we should be carrying.
